CROCKETT – A local man was arrested on suspicion of stealing a delivery truck from a local business, before returning the truck a short time later, colliding with the business’ building. He was allegedly found in possession of a firearm and controlled substances.
Crockett Police Department (CPD) released the following statement regarding the incident and subsequent arrest:
“On May 11, at about 7 a.m., CPD officers responded to a business in the 100 block of East Goliad Avenue for reports of vandalism and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle.
Officers met with the business owner, who reported he arrived at work that morning to find damage to the side of the building and also that someone had used one of their company vehicles overnight without permission. While reviewing the business’s surveillance camera recordings, officers recognized the suspect as Jordan Rayshad Strange (age 19, from Crockett). The recordings showed Strange walking up to the property at about 2:50 a.m. and taking the company’s truck. Strange returned the truck about 10 minutes later but crashed into the building in the process.
Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Strange for the offense of Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle (State Jail Felony) and on May 14, a patrol officer found Strange walking on East Bowie Avenue near Crockett Loop 304. He was taken into custody and to the Houston County Jail. Strange was in possession of a handgun at the time of his arrest. At the jail, Strange was found to have suspected hydrocodone pills concealed on his person. In addition to the warrant, Strange was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 3 <28 Grams (Class A Misdemeanor) and Prohibited Substance/Item in a Correctional Facility (3rd Degree Felony). Additional charges are possible in the future.”
All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
