EAST TEXAS – The 2019 UIL Volleyball Playoffs are set to begin on Monday and the postseason will feature several area teams competing for a chance to play for a state championship at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland.

Seven local teams qualified for the postseason. The Houston County teams who qualified for the playoffs are the Grapeland Sandiettes and the Kennard Lady Tigers.

Nearly all the Anderson County teams made the postseason. The Cayuga Lady Wildcats, the Elkhart Lady Elks, the Neches Lady Tigers, the Palestine Lady Cats and the Westwood Lady Panthers all punched their ticket for the postseason last week.

The Class 1A Kennard Lady Tigers will start things off on Monday, Nov. 4 as they travel to Livingston to take on the Burkeville Lady Mustangs at 6 pm in Livingston.

The Class 4A Palestine Lady Cats are also in action on Monday, Nov. 4 as they travel to Tyler Junior College for a Bi-District match against the Carthage Lady Bulldogs. The first serve is scheduled for 6:30 pm.

The action on the court heats up on Tuesday, Nov. 5. The Grapeland Sandiettes and Cayuga Lady Wildcats will both be in Fairfield for a Bi-District doubleheader.

The Lady Wildcats will start things off at 6 pm when they take on the Normangee Lady Panthers. Once this match concludes, the Sandiettes will take the court as they look to take down the Centerville Lady Tigers in first round playoff action.

At the Class 3A level, the Elkhart Lady Elks will travel to Madisonville High School for a match against the Troy Lady Trojans, beginning at 7:30 pm.

Also on Tuesday, Nov. 4 the Westwood Lady Panthers will travel to North Zulch to take on the Lexington Lady Eagles beginning at 6:30 pm.

And last, but certainly not least, the Neches Lady Tigers open defense of their 2018 Class 1A State Championship. The Lady Tigers have a bye so they will advance to the area round of the postseason against an opponent yet to be determined.
