WIDESPREAD OUTAGES
Early this morning, Thursday, April 18th, the Houston County Electric Cooperative (HCEC) system experienced severe storm damage. As of 4:30 pm there are approximately 5,200 meters with reported power outages. Outages are largely concentrated in the southern portion of Anderson County and the eastern portion of Leon County. High wind gusts have broken poles and damaged equipment that supply power to our consumers. Fallen trees are hindering access to make repairs.

HCEC continues to utilize all employees and additional contract crews from Texas and Louisiana to restore service as safely and efficiently as possible.

Members could be without power for more than 24 hours. If you or anyone you may know has a medical condition that relies on electricity, we urge you to relocate where you can receive an alternate power source. We estimate a majority of those without power will be restored by tomorrow evening.

Please continue to watch our website and Facebook pages for updates throughout the day and night.
