Walter W. Standley

Walter W. Standley, age 77, of Lovelady passed away Friday, October 26, 2018 at his residence.  Walter was born August 1, 1941 in the Holly Community to parents, Floy Standley and Anna Goodwin Standley.  He served as a Military Police in the United States Army during Korean Conflict Era. Walter was a former member of the Crockett Volunteer Fire Department served as Chief for several years.   He was retired from law enforcement serving as an investigator and was a member of the Central Baptist Church.

Walter is survived by wife, Carroll Standley of Lovelady; sons, John Standley of Crockett, Lee Standley of Waller, Stephen Durr and wife, Kelley of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Heather Standley, Hayden Standley, Jessica Anderson, Adam Standley, Wyatt Durr; special grandchildren, Damien , Mariah and Cameron Sonnier; great-grandchildren, Malachi, Kennedy, Charleigh, Tucker, Will; future great-grandchild, Liam; sisters, Jeannie Davenport of Lovelady, Wanda Kleppel and husband, Rick of Houston, Beverly Koon and husband, Tony of Slidell, LA; sister-in-law, June Standley of Kemah; father-in-law, Roy C. Stokes of Crockett; brother-in-law, Doug Stokes and wife, Pam of Ennis; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.  He was preceded in death by son, Carl Wayne Standley; parents, Anna and Floy Standley; sisters, Dorothy Jones, Annette Gibson; brothers, William Standley, Buddy Standley, Earnest Ray Standley, Michael Standley; brothers-in-law, Eddie Davenport, Daryl Jones, Gene Gibson.

Funeral services for Walter W. Standley were held at 10:00 a.m Tuesday, October 30, 2018 in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Rev. John Goss officiating.  Interment followed in the Zion Hill Cemetery.  Family received friends for visitation Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
