District Play Now Underway

EAST TEXAS – District play has started for several area teams while several more will be in league action next Friday, Sept. 21.

In District 21-2A, the Cayuga Lady Wildcats are tied atop the standings with the Neches Lady Tigers and the Cross Roads Lady Bobcats, all with identical 2-0 records.

On Friday, Sept. 7 the Lady Wildcats defeated the Latexo Lady Tigers, 3-0 and took down the Grapeland Sandiettes on Sept. 11.

Neches defeated Grapeland on Sept. 7 by a score of 3-0 and then destroyed the Trinidad Lady Trojans in three on Tuesday.

The Lady Bobcats of Cross roads defeated Trinidad on Sept. 7 and took down Kerens on Sept. 11.

The Latexo Lady Tigers evened their district record at 1-1 after a three game loss to the Cayuga Lady Wildcats on Sept. 7 and a five game victory over Oakwood on Sept. 11

The Grapeland Sandiettes are 0-2 in district match-ups. They fell to the Neches Lady Tigers in three on Sept. 7 and also to the Cayuga Lady Wildcats in three on Tuesday, Sept. 11.

In District 22-2A, the Lovelady Lady Lions have not started district play. They will begin on Sept. 21 against the Iola Lady Bulldogs, followed by a match against the Leon Lady Cougars.

District 20-3A is led by the Westwood Lady Panthers after the first week of district competition. They defeated the Buffalo Lady Bison in three on Sept.7 and then blanked the Crockett Lady Bulldogs on Sept. 11.

The Elkhart Lady Elks are just behind the leaders with a 1-1 record. The Lady Elks defeated the Frankston Maidens in the first district game of the year but fell to the Groesbeck Lady Goats in a five game match.

The Crockett Lady Bulldogs are 0-2 in District 20-3A after losses to the Teague Lady Lions and Westwood Lady Panthers.

The Frankston Maidens are also 0-2. The Maidens fell to the Lady Elks of Elkhart and to the Lady Bison of Buffalo.

In District 19-4A, the Palestine Lady Cats have not started league play. Last week, the Lady Cats fell to Malakoff in three and took the Teague Lady Lions to a fifth game before falling 2-3.

The Madisonville Lady Mustangs are also in District 19-4A and like Palestine, they haven’t started league play. The Lady Mustangs fell to Caldwell in three on Sept. 7 and lost to Centerville 3-2 on Tuesday.

Both the Lady Cats and Lady Mustangs begin district play on Sept. 21.
