Berton Vest

Berton Vest, age 92, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2018 at his residence in Crockett. Berton was born December 20, 1925 in Porter Springs, to parents, W.B. and Minnie Lee Vest. He was a retired truck driver and a member of the Truly God’s Country Cowboy Church.

Berton is survived by his children, Willard Vest and wife, Margaret of Splendora, Billy Vest of Houston, Bertie Bowdoin and husband, Jackie of Crockett, Carrie Powell and Kenneth McClellan of Lovelady, Shirley Wilson of Kennard, Lavonne Webb of Belott, Loretta Ellis of Crockett; 21 grandkids; 43 great grandkids; 12 great-great grandkids.

He is preceded in death by wives, Gwen Vest, Ginger Vest; sons, Vernon Willis, Frank Vest; daughter, Betty McLaughlin; son-in-law, Larry Ellis.

Funeral services were held for Berton Vest on Wednesday June 13, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Dr. Reggie Gregory officiating. Family received friends for visitation Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to charity of choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Callaway-Allee Funeral Home.
