Jerry Lewis Peterson

Jerry Lewis Peterson, age 77, of Crockett, Texas, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, the 6th day of February, 2018. He was born on the 19th day of May, 1940 in Harlingen, Texas to George Lewis Peterson and Olene Grimsley Peterson. Jerry lived a full life. He received his M.B.A. and was a teacher for many years before he retired from Crockett I.S.D. in 1993. He then began a new career as a mail carrier. He loved to travel or just ride around. Jerry was an avid historian and faithful Christian. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Elkhart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Olene Peterson. Jerry is survived by his sister, Joy Walker of Victoria, Texas; niece, Laura Stanley; nephew, Noah Walker and many other family members.

Funeral services for Jerry Peterson were conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 10th day of February, 2018 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel. Bro. Jason Hoffman officiated. Interment followed in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Elkhart.

Friends were cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening on Friday, the 9th day of February, 2018 in the Parlor and Reflection Room of Rhone Funeral Home.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were O.L. Grimsley, Kermit Grimsley, Max Murdock, Don Langston, Butch Halmark and Thomas Vaughn.
