Lady Bulldogs Finish Second in District 21-3A

Crockett Defeats Anderson-Shiro 53-43 in District Finale

 CROCKETT – The Crockett Lady Bulldogs wrapped up District 21-3A play on Tuesday, Feb. 6 with a 53-43 win over the Anderson-Shiro Lady Owls.

The win gave Crockett sole possession of second place and a Bi-District match-up with the third place finisher from District 22-3A. The who, when and where for the first round of the playoffs have not been determined as of press time.

Concerning the Tuesday night contest, the Lady Bulldogs opened strong and forced the Lady Owls to play catch-up throughout the game.

Crockett jumped out to a 13-9 lead by the end of the first quarter and never looked back. The Lady Bulldogs were paced by Angel Bolton who drained a pair of threes for six points. Jasmine Simon added a three of own while Dea’Junique James and Tynaisha McKnight both had two.

The Lady Owls points came from Kyndal Bohnert with six and Porscha Johnson with three.

The second quarter saw Crockett begin to pull away from Anderson-Shiro. The Lady Bulldogs dropped 16 points on the Lady Owls in the period while holding Anderson-Shiro to only four points from Delaney Compean.

James led the way for the Lady Bulldogs with six second quarter points. She was joined in the scoring column by a quintet of Crockett players – McKnight, DeDe Farris, Katelin Holmes, Shabess Johnson and Jaida Lockhart – with two apiece as the Lady Bulldogs opened up a 29-13 halftime lead.

Following the break, the Lady Bulldogs and Lady Owls both struggled from the field. Emily Daigle had four for the Lady Owls and was joined by Bohnert with three and Johnson with two.

Bolton dropped in her third three of the game for Crockett, while Farris and James both had two which made the score 36-22 at the end of three quarters of play.

As the final eight minutes of play began, Crockett Coach Cookie Johnson went to her bench to give some of the younger players game-time experience, When the Lady Owls started to make a run midway through the fourth quarter, however, Johnson went back to the starters as the Lady Bulldogs held on for the 53-43 victory.

Crockett’s fourth quarter point production came from James with six, Holmes with four McKnight with three while both Bolton and Lockhart had two apiece.

For the game, the Lady Owls were led in scoring by Kyndal Bohnert with a game high 18 points. Emily Daigle added 10, Porscha Johnson dropped in eight and Delaney Compean had seven to round out the Anderson-Shiro scoring.

The Lady Bulldogs were led by Dea’Junique James with 16 points and Angel Bolton with 11. Tynaishia McKnight had seven, Katelin Holmes added six and both DeDe Farris along with Jaida Lockhart had four. Jasmine Simon had a three and Shabess Johnson closed out the Crockett scoring with two.
