PALESTINE – Crockett Road Church of Christ in Palestine will host its annual “Give Me the Bible” conference Saturday, Jan. 20.
“(We will have) two great speakers and a lot of good singing,” said Pastor Dan Manuel. “Hobbs Book Publishing Company will be here with Bible materials as well as the World Video Bible School with free DVDs on the church.”
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church, located at 1717 Crockett Road in Palestine.
According to Manuel, those in attendance will also receive reports on the “Give Me the Bible” television program.
A catered lunch provided by Cotton Patch will be served at noon. The cost is $8 per adult.
According to Manuel, the “Give Me the Bible” television program began in April 1989.
“The program has been televised on NBC KETK 56 in Tyler for the last 29 years,” Manuel explained. “The program is moving to KLTV Channel 7 on April 1.”
In addition to being shown on KLTV in Tyler, the program will air at 6 a.m. Sunday mornings on KTRE Channel 9 in the Lufkin/Nacogdoches area.
Viewers in Longview can tune into KLPN 58 at 6 a.m. Friday mornings for the program, which also broadcasts on stations in the Bryan/College Station, Sherman-Denison, Texarkana, Waco and Lake Charles, LA.
For the past six years, the program has been broadcast nationally and internationally over the Gospel Broadcasting Network (GBN).
The program is telecast at 8:30 a.m. Sunday mornings from South Haven, MS.
“Plans are being made to telecast special programming at prime time spots during the coming year,” Manuel said.
In addition to the Crockett Road Church of Christ, the “Give Me the Bible” television program is sponsored by numerous other churches of Christ located throughout the East Texas area and portions of Louisiana. The elders of the Crockett Road Church of Christ are the overseers of the telecast.
