Bill Secrest

Bill Secrest, age 86, of Grapeland, passed peacefully into his Heavenly Home on Tuesday, the 24th day of October, 2017 at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.

Bill was born on the 19th day of March, 1931 in Sylvan, Texas to Jesse Secrest and Nora Geers Secrest.  Bill served in the United States Air Force and was an insurance agent for National Life and an independent agent for Secrest Insurance Agency until his retirement.     

Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Patsy Secrest; parents, Jesse and Nora Secrest; sister, Martha Dell Musser; brothers, Wayland Secrest, John Secrest, Bryon Secrest, Athol Secrest and Randle Secrest; grandchild, Matthew Meyer.

Bill is survived by his wife, Sally Jeffus Secrest; daughter, Sharon Schmidt of Crosby, Texas, Crystal Manganaro and husband John of Honolulu, Hawaii; sons, Russell Secrest and wife Tania of Pearland, Texas, Paul Secrest and wife Marilyn of Alvin, Texas; grandchildren, Heather Secrest, Tammy Secrest, Paul Daniels, Karlee Secrest, Ryan Secrest, and Victoria Smallwood; sister, Novelyn Hulen of Dallas, Texas; brothers, Thales Secrest of North Dakota and Kenneth Secrest of Dallas, Texas.

Funeral services were conducted at one o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 27th day of October, 2017 in the Rhone Memorial Chapel with Reverend Charles Butler officiating.

Interment followed in Antioch Cemetery in Lovelady, Texas.  Friends were cordially invited to a visitation with the family one hour prior to service.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Russell Secrest, Paul Secrest, Paul Daniels, John Smallwood, Victoria Smallwood and John Manganaro.
