Dorothy Mae McCarty

Dorothy Mae McCarty, age 89, of Crockett passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017 in the Hospice of East Texas, Tyler.

Dorothy was born January 8, 1928 in Houston to parents, Gordon Lisembee and Sudie Mae Lillard Lisembee.

She worked in retail sales for many years and was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Dorothy was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Crockett Chapter.

She is survived by children, Norma Jean Clark of Center, Johnny McCarty of Crockett and Mary Bailes and husband, Rodger of Center; grandchildren, Ronald Brent Clark of Center, Tiffany Farmacka and husband, Brett of Crosby, Catherine Renee Clark of Center, Brian Keith Bailes and wife, Charlene of Conroe, Amanda Renee Stroud and husband, Kevin of Timpson; great-grandchildren, Emily Clark, Jacob Ingersoll, Sarah Olson and husband, Dalton, Sidney Bailes, Laila Bailes, Jacob Carr, Laura Biggers, Brynna and Cassidy Farmacka; great-great-grandchildren, Acadia Carr, Samuel Olson, Braydon Oatis; sister, Evelyn Phiffer of Trinity; brother, W. D. Lisembee and wife, Wanda of Conroe; step-children, Paul Fortner, Jr. and Susan Denton.

Dorothy is preceded in death by husbands, John McCarty in 1972 and Paul Fortner in 2003; brothers, Raymond and Peewee Lisembee ; sister, Mary Hunt.

Graveside funeral service was held Friday, August 4, 2017 at 10 a.m. in the Groveton Glenwood Cemetery with Rev. Steve Meadows officiating. Visitation began at 9 a.m. prior to service.
