Bennie Royce Taylor

Funeral services for Bennie Royce Taylor, of Crockett were held Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Crockett, TX with Rev. Henry Lovelady officiating and Rev. Myron Waddle giving the eulogy.

Bennie Royce Taylor was born December 24, 1949 in Crockett, TX with a twin sister to Zimeriah and Faustine Taylor. He was the third of eleven children.

He was raised in Latexo, TX and received his education at W.R. Banks High School and Latexo High School. Bennie later married LaVern Jones on May 14, 2017.

Bennie passed away on June 30, 2017 at his home after a brief illness. He accepted Christ at an early age in the New Salem Baptist Church and then later united with Union Prairie Baptist Church where he was member of the Men’s Choir.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Shirley Marie Taylor; grandparents, Aresta Cross Daniels and Cleveland Daniels, Nathan Taylor and Lillian Ross Taylor.

He is survived by his devoted wife, LaVern Taylor of Crockett; sons, Rev. Jerome (Mia) Simpson, Aundrea Simpson, Paul Hart, all of Grapeland, Bennie Taylor, Jr. of Crockett and Michael Jones of Lufkin; daughters, Natasha Terry of Waco, Ebony Jones of Crockett and Mecia Jones of Memphis, TN; brothers, Wayne Taylor of Oak Park, IL, Eugene (Shirie) Taylor of Grapeland, Curtis Taylor, Stanley Taylor of Latexo, Charles Taylor of Grapeland; sisters, Wilma Page of Grapeland, Linda Taylor of Crockett, Wanda Burney of Latexo, Nadine (John) Lomax of Grapeland, Sandra Taylor of Latexo, Delcina (Darrell) Groves of Crockett; 16 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Luchiry Edwards, III, Charles Burney, Sr., Anthony Taylor, Curtis Taylor, Gary Taylor, Darrell Groves, Larry McCullough and Harold Platt. Honorary Pallbearers were Wayne Taylor, Eugene Taylor, Curtis Taylor, Stanley Taylor, Charles Taylor, Horace Jones, Michael Jones, and Jimmy Ray Jones.

Interment was held at New Salem Cemetery in Grapeland, TX. Services were under the direction of Emanuel Funeral Homes.
