Fred Pierce Woodward

Fred Pierce Woodward, 77,  a resident of Nacogdoches, TX, was born in Broken Bow, OK, February 26, 1940 the fifth of eight children to Veda Pearl McGowan Woodward and Harl Pierce Woodward.

 He was raised in Woodville, Texas, married Willie Vern Woodward and worked as a logger.

Fred lived for fishing and always made his home near a creek, river, pond or body of water where he could fish at his leisure.

Fishing and family were the two joys of his life.

Wednesday, March 8, 2017 Fred left this world to go fishing with the Lord. He transitioned peacefully at Lampstand Nursing Home in Bryan, TX.

He is preceded in death by both parents, brother, Daniel Lee Woodward, sisters Ellen Messer, Odessa Waldrep, Ozella Fry, Dorothy Howard, and Clarabell Woodward.

Left to cherish his fishing stories are sons Marvin Howard, and Darrell Nelms (Christy) both of Nacogdoches, TX; daughters Mary Navarro (Adam) of Hearne, TX, Sheila Nelms (James) of Nacogdoches, TX, step-daughter Renee Rodriguez (Pablo) of Crockett, TX; sister Corabell Self, Crockett, TX; aunt Patsy McGowan, Broken Bow, OK; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Graveside Service: Monday, March 13, 2017 at 12:30 PM at New Energy Cemetery, Belott, TX
