PALESTINE – The Palestine Police Department has taken multiple reports over the last month regarding counterfeit bills being passed locally.
In response, PPD Criminal Investigative Division and PPD Patrol Division combined their efforts in a deep investigation into the source of the funny money.
Early last week, Patrol Division officers obtained vital information regarding a possible source of the counterfeit bills. The information was passed to Criminal Investigators who conducted follow-up investigations resulting in warrants.
On Dec. 27, three warrants were issued for suspects Christopher Aherns, 43, Carlos Hull, 40 and Michael Sharples, 45.
While executing the search and arrest warrants, investigators confiscated several computers, printers and counterfeit bills. The bills were in $20, $50 and $100 denominations.
