Samuel Lee “Sammy” Allen

Samuel Lee “Sammy” Allen, age 90, of Porter Springs, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at the St. Luke’s Hospital, The Woodlands. Sammy was born June 12, 1936 in Crockett to parents, John Albert Allen and Mattie Pauline Johnson Allen. After graduating from Crockett High School in 1952, he joined the United States Air Force serving as A1C Airman First Class, receiving his discharge in 1961. Sammy then began his career with FMC Corporation in Houston as Plant Supervisor, working until his retirement in the early 90’s. He then moved back to Houston County where he married Shirley Patrick and they built a life together in Porter Springs. Sammy enjoyed his cows, gardening, woodworking and also enjoyed visiting his many longtime friends as well as serving on the Porter Springs Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoying watching his grandsons play baseball and also all the activities his other grandchildren may be involved in.

Sammy is survived by sons, Daryl Allen and wife, Mayra of Austonio, Mark Allen of Tomball, Randy Allen and wife, Lynda of Magnolia; grandchildren, Cole Allen and fiancée, McKlay of Normangee, Shelby Allen and fiancé, Rope of Huntsville, Max Allen and wife, Aly of Leona, Grace Allen of Conroe, Nathan Allen of Magnolia, Logan Allen of Waco; great-grandchildren, Jenny and Kuttar; daughter-in-law, Missy Allen; mother of his sons, Emma Adams Needham; Shirley’s children, Mike Rothrock and wife, Margaret, Lea Rothrock and husband, Kimball Bishop; daughter-in-law, Terri Rothrock; grandchildren, Patrick Rothrock and wife, Haley; Ashley Barnard and husband, Josh, Charles Rothrock, Sam Ray, Rocko Bishop, Shelly Waskom, Laura Perry; great-grandchildren, Riley, Mason, and Evelyn; .

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Patrick Allen; parents, John and Mattie Allen; brothers, Perry Allen and Johnnie Deal Allen; sister, Louise Brenham; brother-in-law, Doug Adams; Shirley’s son, Jerry Rothrock.

Graveside funeral services for Sammy Allen were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at the Porter Springs Cemetery with Dr. Reggie Gregory officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Porter Springs Fire Department.
