Porter Herod

 Porter Herod, 87, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday June 14, 2025 at 6:00 A.M. He was born in Grapeland, TX to parents Marvin & Bessie Herod. He was a member of First Methodist Church in Grapeland, Texas. 

He was preceded in death by parents Marvin & Bessie Herod; son Gary Herod; brothers Charles, Joe, & Bobby Herod; sisters Betty Bennett and Marilyn Johnston. He is survived by his wife Frances Herod; son Terry Herod; daughter Tresa Burton and husband Chuck; sister-in-law Sandra; 4 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews. Funeral services for Porter were held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at First Methodist Church in Grapeland. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 12:00 Noon.  Interment followed after the service at Parker Cemetery.

 The family would like to thank his church family and friends and Luminos Hospice for the love and compassion shown during this time. Those honored to serve at pallbearers are Tommy Payne, Jeff Kerby, Brian Herod, Todd Baker, Ronn Herod, Josh Herod, Jamie Jordan, Chuck Burton, Bo Vickers, Allen Cheatham, Devin Barton, Brian Payne and Ty Richards.  Honorary pallbearers are Jim Chambers, Michael Cutshaw, Gerald Skidmore and Stanley Skidmore.
