State Highway 7 to Get Facelift From Ratcliff to Kennard

KENNARD –   Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) announced a $9.3 million project to resurface roads in both Houston and Angelina counties, including a resurfacing project on State Highway 7 from Ratcliff to Kennard. 

The project was officially launched at a pre-construction meeting held Tuesday, Aug. 22 at the Lufkin District TxDOT office. The project is expected to begin Tuesday, Aug. 29 and portions of the project will finish in May, 2024. 

Moore Brothers Construction of Lufkin was chosen to complete the work which will progress from the Ratcliff-Kennard project spreading out to include:

  • BU 59 from US 59 North to FM 1988 in Polk County
  • US 69 North from SH 7 to SL 287 in Angelina County
  • SH 103 from State Spur 339 to just south of US 69 North in Angelina County
  • SS 339 from SL 287 in Lufkin to SH 94 in Angelina County
  • SL 287 from US 59 to SH 94 in Angelina County
  • SL 287 from SH 94 to SH 103 in Angelina County

As this project progresses from one location to the next, signage and barricades will be set. TxDOT is asking motorists to stay alert to the work zone speed limit and reduce speed, obey all traffic control, prepare for delays or choose alternate routes.
