Bi-District Champion Kennard Tigers Roar With Shutout Win

KENNARD –    Jaden Kulms threw a shutout to lead Kennard Tigers past North Zulch 10-0 on Thursday, May 4 during the playoff game in Buffalo to become Bi-District Champions. 

The Tigers secured the victory thanks to nine runs in the fifth inning. The Kennard offensive firepower was led by Dakota Murray, Keyton Lumbreraz, Nick Dowdy, Kulms and Kade Hauck, all sending runners across the plate with RBI’s in the inning.

Kennard tallied nine runs in the fifth inning. Murray, Lumbreraz, Dowdy, Kulms and Hauck all contributed in the big inning with RBI’s.

A single by Coy Measell in the fifth inning was a small but few positives for North Zulch.

Kulms got the win for Kennard, surrendering zero runs on one hit over five innings, striking out eight and walking one.

Riley Mooney took the loss for North Zulch, lasting four and two-thirds innings, allowing five hits and seven runs while striking out three.

Kennard, in all, racked up eight hits. Kulms, Murray, and Dowdy each had multiple hits for the Tigers with each managing two hits to lead the team. Kennard tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Lumbreraz led the way with two. Kennard was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Murray made the most plays with nine.

Measell went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead North Zulch in hits.

The Tigers will next face Chester Yellowjackets Thursday, May 11 at the Region Three Quarterfinals in Cleveland, with game two Friday night and game three, if needed, Saturday.
