Marjorie Brittain Lundy

Marjorie Brittain Lundy, 98, passed away February 2, 2023.  Marjorie was born December 2, 1924 in Shelby County Texas to parents Franklin Hearn Brittain & Nettie Eddins Brittain.  

She was raised in rural Shelby County with her 6 siblings and attended Stephen F. Austin College earning a degree in Art. Her art work continues to be a prized possession in the family.  

Marjorie was a dedicated elementary school teacher and had a lifelong love of learning and travel.  

She was married to Lee Lundy whom she met in college and was a loving mother to their 3 children and partner in their successful ranching operation.  

Marjorie was an active member of Austonio Baptist Church for over 65 years, serving as Sunday School teacher & church clerk many of those years.  

She was a long time member of the Eastern Star Organization and was active in 4H and any other organization her children participated in. 

Marjorie is survived by her children, Cherye & husband, Ronnie Hyde, Tommy Lundy & wife, Elizabeth, Angela & husband, Ralph Piper; grandchildren, Rachel Lundy & Cadmus Mazzarella, Amie & Ben Riverman, Leigh & Logan Price, James Lundy, Chandler and Justin Robertson, Jessica & Casey Bennett, Hannah Hyde, Joshua Hyde, David Hyde, Zachary Hyde, Luke Piper, Travis Piper, Jacob Piper; great-grandchildren, Owen Riverman, Walker Riverman, Michael Bennett, Elizabeth Bennett; and many other beloved family.  

Marjorie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lee Lundy; parents, Hearn and Nettie Brittain; siblings, Herschell Brittain, Lamar Brittain, Hugh “Cotton” Brittain, Oneita Brittain Vaughn, Joe Brittain and  Ben Brittain.

Funeral services for Marjorie Brittain Lundy was held 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2023 in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel, Rev. Ottis Byers and Rev. Paul Knight officiating.  Interment followed in Creek Cemetery.  Pallbearers were her 7 grandsons: Joshua, David and Zachary Hyde; James Lundy; Luke, Travis and Jacob Piper.  

The family received visitors 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday at Callaway-Allee Funeral Home.
