Lady Bulldogs’ Comeback Falls Short
Frankston Nips Crockett, 48-45

CROCKETT – The Crockett Lady Bulldogs were looking to break their three-game losing streak as they welcomed the Frankston Maidens to town for a District 20-3A matchup.
The Maidens controlled the majority of the game, but began to fall apart as the clock ticked down. The Lady Bulldogs found themselves in a 10-point deficit at the start of the fourth quarter but managed to scratch and claw their way back into the contest and had a chance to send it into overtime but it was not meant to be, however, as the Lady Bulldogs came up just short and fell to the Maidens by a score of 48-45.
Frankston jumped out to an early lead on Crockett as Kiana Eldridge dropped in six points. She was joined in the scoring column by Tia Billingsley with five, Abbie Ramsey with four and Keryona Eldridge with one.
The Lady Bulldogs were paced by Katelin Holmes and Tynaisha McKnight with four apiece. Shabess Johnson added two and Alinjah McKnight made one of two from the line to make the score 16-11 after the first period of play.
The second quarter saw the Maidens push their lead to seven as four players – Billingsley, Ke. Eldridge, Ki. Eldridge and Jordan Kliebart – all had two.
The Bulldogs points came from T. McKnight with four and A. McKnight with two as the Lady Bulldogs found themselves staring up at a 24-17 halftime deficit.
Following the intermission, the Maidens pushed their lead to 14, early in the third quarter, before settling for a 10-point lead with eight minutes left to play.
The Lady Bulldogs’ points came from T. McKnight with four while both K. Holmes and Jaida Lockhart had three apiece. Johnson added a free throw to close out the Crockett third quarter scoring.
Jaden Rackley led Frankston with four third quarter points. Billingsley had three, while Ke. Eldridge, Ramsey and Briana Looney all had two apiece. In addition, Ki. Eldridge made one of two from the line to make the score 38-28 as the teams headed into the fourth quarter.
Ramsey helped keep the Maidens ahead with six points in the fourth quarter while Ke. Eldridge and Rackley both had two.
As the final period got underway, the Lady Bulldogs mounted a furious comeback. T. McKnight dropped in eight while Johnson had four. Holmes had three and Lockhart had two but it wasn’t enough as Frankston held on to win by a final score of 48-45.
On the game, the Maidens were led by Abbie Ramsey with 12 points and Tia Billingsley with 10. Kiana Eldridge had nine, Keryona Eldridge had seven, Jaden Rackley went for six and Jordan Kliebert, along with Briana Looney had two apiece.
The Lady Bulldogs were paced by Tynaisha McKnight with 20 points and Katelin Holmes with 10. Shabess Johnson added seven, Jaida Lockhart had five and Alinjah McKnight had three to close out the Crockett point production.
