THE WEEKENDER: Strzok Out

By Clyde Black

Oh, my!  It’s been a busy week at work but when I can I try to watch the Peter Strzok hearings in Congress.  You may remember he is the high ranking FBI guy who had an affair with an FBI attorney, cleared Hillary and hates Trump.  You know, he is the source of those E-mails telling his girlfriend that Trump will never be elected, etc., etc..  He was involved in getting the whole Russian collusion investigation thing started over a year ago that led to Robert Mueller’s being appointed special counsel and all the media dealings, hearings and spiteful rhetoric since.

Democrats in Congress support Strzok and Republicans defend Trump.  I’ve written columns about hate recently and you should hear the things our elected officials in Congress are saying to each other, about each other and about our President, who after all, did win the election.  It reminds me about the meeting with Congress when President Obama (crap, I said his name), chastised the now beloved Sen. John McCain.  McCain made a comment and you know who said, “You know John, I did win the election”, thereby telling McCain to sit and shut up.  Very disrespectful!

Being the renowned WEEKENDER, I know what the problem is.  THEY ARE ALL LAWYERS!  Most of the Congressmen are lawyers and most of the FBI agents are lawyers.  Why in the hell would we expect anything other than confusion and arguments?  That’s what they are trained to do!  Argue and fight!  If we had some good old plumbers, cowboys and bankers in Congress we could get things done.  The FBI was respected when it hired policemen but when they started hiring lawyers they went to the dark side.  Remember the movie, The Untouchables, with Kevin Costner.  The FBI was nothing until they hired Sean Connery, the old street cop.  If you put 10 democratic leaning lawyers in a room to discuss a subject they would disagree and hate each other within 30 minutes.  I’m a republican but so would republican lawyers.

As for Peter Strzok, the FBI who went for the little side entertainment.  Someone should have told him a long time ago to not mix sex up in the workplace.  Lord, please help us.  (Side note to lawyers…remember this is in jest.)
