District 18-4A All-District Softball Team Announced

EAST TEXAS – As the 2017-2018 UIL softball season draws to a close, several of the area All-District teams are beginning to filter in.

One of the districts which has released the postseason awards is District 18-4A which is comprised of: the Athens Lady Hornets; the Fairfield Lady Eagles; the Madisonville Lady Mustangs; the Mexia Lady Black Cats and the Palestine Lady Wildcats.

At the superlative level, Fairfield Lady Eagle Banner Monico was selected as the District’s Most Valuable Player.

The Offensive Player of the Year was Margo Measles from Fairfield.

The Co-Defensive Players of the Year were Karly Cook from Athens and Abby Garcia from Fairfield.

The Pitcher of the Year was Erica Beldin from Mexia.

The Newcomer of the Year was Jennifer Williams from Mexia.

The Coach of the Year was Kerry Hand from Fairfield.

The First Team All-District selections were:

Catcher – Baileah Thompson from Mexia.

Infielders – Lauran Adcock from Fairfield; Gentry Renfro from Mexia; Aspen Odom from Athens; and Kacelyn Jarrell from Madisonville.

Outfielders – Paige Bain from Palestine; Kandace Smith from Madisonville, Rebecca Dunlap from Fairfield; Gabi Jacobs from Mexia; and Michaela Sneed from Athens.

Pitchers – McKenzie Hair from Athens.

Utility Players – Bailey Jones from Fairfield and Tashundra Reeves from Mexia.

Designated Player – Ver’sonyca Reeves from Mexia.

The Second Team All-District selections were:

Catcher – Jessilyn Jenkins from Palestine.

Infielders – Kealie House from Fairfield; Tyler Greene from Athens; Raegan Olvera from Madisonville; Treece Daily from Mexia; and Fazaria Edwards from Palestine.

Outfielders – Carsyn Cox from Fairfield; Emily Alvarado from Madisonville; Ashton Langley from Mexia; and Amirah Wyse from Palestine.

Pitchers – Emily Blakley from Madisonville.

Utility Players – Ka’Zem Wood from Palestine.

Designated Player – Camii Wilson from Fairfield.
