ELKHART – The Elkhart Lady Elks welcomed the Buffalo Lady Bison to town on Friday afternoon for a softball game in the rain.

The conditions were less than ideal as the two teams took the field. The Bison broke into the scoring column first with two runs in the third, before the Lady Elks came back in their half of the inning with three runs.

Both teams tacked on another run to make the final score 4-3, in favor of Elkhart. The win clinches second place for the Lady Elks as they head into the playoffs. With one game remaining in district against the Malakoff Lady Tigers, the Lady Elks will enter the playoffs as the second seed from District 18-AAA.

Their first round opponent will likely be the Blooming Grove Lady Lions, the third seed out of District 17-AAA. The Lady Elks are looking to get past the second round of the playoffs for the first time in several years while the Lady Lions have missed the playoffs two of the last three years.

The playoffs are scheduled to begin on April 26.
