Joe L. Driskell

Joe L. Driskell, age 86, of Lovelady passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018 in Crockett. He was born September 10, 1931 in Lovelady to parents, Joe Judson Driskell and Ople Irene Monzingo Driskell. Joe attended Lovelady schools and after graduating from Lovelady High School was awarded a basketball scholarship to Sam Houston State Teachers College.  He was a faithful fan of all Lovelady sports with a special love of basketball and football. Joe was a lifetime member of the Lovelady Church of Christ attending as a little boy with his parents.  In his early life, he worked as a heavy equipment operator in Houston, Texas then Houston County while ranching and farming with his daddy.  Joe worked at TDC Eastham Unit, 7J Ranch as feed mill manager, district sales manager for Nutrena Feeds then after retiring, he continued ranching and taking care of his cows.  Joe had a “gift of gab” and never met a stranger.

He is survived by his wife of 67 ½ years, Lillian Jordan Driskell of Lovelady; daughter, Debbie Rollo and husband, Sonny of Lovelady; sons, Joe David Driskell and wife, Chris of Lovelady, Keith Driskell and wife, Julie of Lovelady; grandchildren, Jason Rollo and wife, B.J., Jeffrey Rollo and wife, Connie, Emily McLaughlin and husband, Nate, Lacy Driskell, Sarah Bird and husband, Jim Patrick, Katie Dobbins and husband, Justin, Justin Driskell, and Jordan Driskell; fifteen great-grandchildren; brother, Monte Jack Driskell and wife, Janet of Lovelady; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by parents, Joe and Ople Driskell and sister, Judy Shoemaker and her husband, Leon.

Funeral services for Joe L. Driskell will be held Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 10 a.m. in the Lovelady Church of Christ with Jason Rollo and Jeffrey Rollo officiating.  Interment will follow in the Lovelady Evergreen Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Callaway-Allee Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lovelady Church of Christ, P.
