George A. Crawford

George A. Crawford, age 76, of Elkhart passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.

He was born on November 30, 1941, in Houston County, Texas to Charlie C. Crawford and Nora B. (Ginsel) Crawford. He was a retired truck driver and longtime trader in Elkhart. He was a member of the First Congressional Methodist Church of Elkhart. George was extremely close to his grandchildren Trey Goodson and Courtney Kinnaman. PawPaw’s sweetheart Rachel and PawPaw’s big man Carter and PawPaw’s special niece Melinda held a special place in his heart.

Mr. Crawford is survived by his wife of 41 years, Ruby M. (Hamby) Crawford of Elkhart; daughters, Iva Hallmark and husband Carl Hallmark of Elkhart and Tracy Grant of Elkhart; sons, Clint Grant of Slocum and Jayson Grant and wife Jennifer Grant of Slocum; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; special niece, Melinda Anderson; sisters, Charlsey Bragg, Abbie Hamby, Linda Hill, and Betty Beaird; and brothers, Charles R. Crawford and Donald G. Crawford. He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Nora Crawford and sister, Joyce Wilson.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 pm Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Garden of Memories in Elkhart with Pastor David Franklin officiating.

Pallbearers will be Bill Wilson, Keith Crawford, Will Suber, Phillip O’Neal, Johnny Goff, Melvin Hannah, and Thomas Vaughn. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Bambeck and his grandsons.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2018, from 6pm-8pm at Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home.
