Genesis 15:18 – “Abram Promised A Specific Land”

“On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram saying, To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt (the Nile) as far as the great river Euphrates…”  To guarantee this promise will one day be reality, God puts Abram to sleep and passes through the center of several dead sacrifices which Abram had prepared.  It is interesting that before God puts Abram to sleep several “birds of prey” try to eat the sacrifices! This is an example of Satan at work trying to keep the sss    promise from being ratified by God!  Abram scares them off. Then God puts him to sleep, and then passes through them. This promise has yet to be fulfilled. In 1948 Israel became a nation once more, but then received only a small portion of the land of Palestine.

(I smile when I think of an Orthodox Jew driving north of Grapeland on State Highway 19 and seeing a road sign directing him to Palestine!?)
