Grapeland – A Palestine doctor received minor injuries in a one-vehicle rollover about a mile and a half from the Houston and Anderson county line on U.S. 287 South on Friday afternoon.

Dr. Sidney Chadwell, 65, of Bullard, was transported by a Grapeland Fire & EMS ambulance to Palestine Regional Medical Center following the accident, which occurred about 2:20 p.m. Friday.

“He ran off the road and rolled through a fence before stopping,” Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Gary Reid of Crockett said.

Chadwell was driving a black 2015 Cadillac SUV northbound on U.S. 287 toward Palestine when the accident occurred, crashing through a metal fence. One of the tires from the vehicle ended up about 200 yards away.

Also responding to the scene were the Grapeland Fire Department, Houston County Sheriff’s Office and the Grapeland Police Department.

The accident is still under investigation, Reid said.
