Harold Stowe

Harold Stowe, 74 years of age, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 2, 2016 in The Woodlands, TX.  Harold was born September 14, 1942 in Crockett, Texas to the late Darrol Lee and Bell Stowe. Harold was the second oldest of four children. At a young age he attended Central Baptist Church in Crockett, TX and was led to the Lord by the faithful men of that church. Harold graduated from Crockett High School in 1961 and Sam Houston State University in 1966.

Harold married his high school sweetheart, Jan Hail, on January 23, 1965 and from that union came two children James and Lisa. They lived together in Cypress, TX until moving back to Crockett 19 years ago. Harold began his career at Texaco, Inc in the accounting department where he worked for 15 years. Harold always had a desire to own his own business. Pursuing this desire, he joined with a business partner and opened Harold Stowe Firestone stores in Tomball and Spring, TX. Upon moving back home, he partnered with Carol Hail Weller and supported by Mike and Virginia Brimberry formed the Brass Lantern Restaurant in Crockett. Harold enjoyed his years in the restaurant business, but had always in the back of his mind wanted to manage a small herd of cattle. In his retirement, he achieved this goal, spending his time raising his herd.

Harold had a great love for all things mechanical. He would always be tinkering on old cars and tractors. You would often find him teaching his wife, kids, or grandkids a new life skill from changing your oil to playing cards or dominoes.

Harold loved the Lord and shared this with his children and grandchildren. Throughout his life he had several opportunities to serve in church. He felt led to help with mission churches and served many times as the church Treasurer.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jan Hail Stowe, of Crockett, TX; his son, James Stowe and his wife, Sherry, and their children, Kaitlyn, Maegan, and Jacob, of Whitesboro, TX; his daughter, Lisa Basinger, and her husband, Joel, and their children, Luke, Will, Noah, and Annie, of Lubbock, TX; sisters, Betty Bitner and her husband, Gene, of Lovelady, TX, Virginia Brimberry and her husband, Mike, of Cedar Park, TX; brother, Mark Stowe, and his wife, Shirley, of Zavalla, TX; sister-in-law, Carol Weller, and her husband, Joe, of Highland Park, TX; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Darrol Lee and Bell Stowe, and his father-in law and mother-in-law, J.E. “Budgie” and Leeila Hail.
