GRAPELAND – In less than two weeks, the Brookshire Brothers Express Store will open for business in Grapeland. Sally Alvis, Brookshire Brothers Senior Director for Marketing and Public Relations, recently provided an update concerning personnel and the timeline of events.

According to Alvis, “The store is set to open Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 7 a.m.  The Grapeland Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting will follow at 12:00 p.m. (noon) which will give Grapeland residents a chance to enjoy the festivities on their lunch hour.”

Alvis added, “Billy Harrington will serve as Store Director. The Latexo native has been with Brookshire Brothers for 21 years – most recently working in Trinity and has served stores in Crockett, Groveton and Corrigan. His assistant will be Lisa Kennon.  Harrington says he’s excited to be able to offer folks in billy-harringtonGrapeland a hot deli featuring grab and go items, fresh meat and produce and a full service pharmacy.  Joining that team will be Pharmacist Heather Harrison and her tech Jamie Bauer.”

In regard to the day of the grand opening, Alvis explained, “Folks are invited to come out and enjoy the grand opening activities and take a spin on the prize wheel, register for giveaways and enjoy refreshments. Customers can take advantage of additional savings by joining CELEBRATE – Brookshire Brothers’ loyalty program.  Weekly specials and promotions are delivered straight to the customers’ inbox and soon Celebrate will include digital coupons.”

“The Grapeland store will employ about 30 local people,” she continued. “Brookshire Brothers just celebrated its 95th birthday with more expansion plans on the horizon. Three additional Express stores will open by early 2017.  It believes in super serving its customers and its community with quality goods, great values and the extra bonus of shopping with someone you know.”

The marketing specialist also revealed, “We’ll also be at the Peanut Festival with a float and booth featuring Mr. Peanut!”
