Miller Basye
Mr. Miller Basye, age 94, of Crockett passed away October 2, 2016 in Crockett. He was born May 29, 1922 in Keefer, OK to parents William Harrison Basye and Martha Lela Taylor Basye.
Mr. Bayse was a member of the Central Baptist Church and the American Legion Post # 22. He served 19 ½ years in active duty in the United States Marine Corps and then retired as Staff Sargent from the Reserves in 1980.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Basye of Crockett, son; step-sons, Bobby R. Schroeder of Houston and Michael Schroeder of Sweeny; grandchildren, Amber Burson and husband, Jonathan of Kennard, Michael Schroeder of Crockett, Kelley Schroeder of Brazoria, Dakota Schroeder and wife, Donna of Brazoria; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bobbie Bayse; step-son Ronald Schroeder; and sisters, Lizzie Bell Mims, Willie Mae Roever, and Alice Woodward.
Funeral services for Miller Basye will be held Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Central Baptist Church. Interment to follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for visitation Wednesday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Callaway-Allee Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
