SAN ANTONIO – Former Grapeland resident and now Airman First Class Dorian Jones entered into the Air Force on Sept. 3 of this year and attended basic training at Lackland Air Force Base  in San Antonio.

Jones was the guidon bearer for flight, TRS 320/FLT 763 and he graduated from basic on Nov. 1, just before Veterans Day. He is currently in tech school and is stationed at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, where he is studying to become an electronic signals intelligence analyst.

The Airman First Class graduated with honors from Fredericksburg High School in 2016. Jones then attended Huston-Tillotson University on an academic scholarship where he pitched for the Rams’ baseball team for two years. He transferred to UTSA to study business and economics from August 2018 through May 2019 and then decided he would like to eventually become a pilot, so he decided to join the Air Force.

After tech school he will be working in intelligence communication as a top-secret clearance Airman and does not know where he will be stationed after tech school. Some of his possible duty stations will be anywhere from Maryland, Georgia, Florida, California, Utah, Colorado, Alaska or Hawaii.

In April of 2019, he married Logan Gardner from Houston. His parents are Jason and Angie Jones of Kerrville. His sister is Lauren Jones and his niece is Opal Guyton of San Antonio. His grandparents are Bob and Jane Jones of Grapeland.
