WEEKLY BIBLE COMMENTARY by Wes Woodard: Romans 1:1-3:323

The first point the Apostle Paul makes in the Book of Romans is that we are all sinful, without any exceptions.

We will make 3:10 our key verse; “There is none righteous, not even one….”

 As I was growing up my mother made it very clear that my brother and I were sinners.

She would often quote Jeremiah 17:9 to us, “The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, who can really understand it?”

 Before anyone will seek medical attention, they must admit that they are sick.

We are all sick with the disease called “sin.”

We have a sinful nature and because of it we sin quite often in thought or action.  Therefore, we all deserve Hell!

In a nutshell, this is the Apostle Paul’s first major point in the Book of Romans.
