GRAPELAND – A search warrant was executed on a motorhome west of Grapeland in the pre-dawn hours of April 14 which led to the arrest of two individuals on drug possession charges.

Jamie Lynn Driskell, 39, and Amanda Michelle Watson, 35, were taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled substance – penalty group one – in an amount greater than four grams but less than 200 grams.

According to a warrantless arrest probable cause statement, “… investigators with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 2066 FM 2423 in Grapeland at approximately 6 a.m.”

The warrant, according to the statement, was issued to search for narcotics in general and methamphetamine, specifically.

“During the search of the residence, crystal like substances were found in plastic baggies believed to be

methamphetamine and were later field tested and tested positive for methamphetamine. Investigators also located two syringes with a clear liquid inside. The liquid substances were field tested and also tested positive for methamphetamine,” the statement indicated.

Digital scales, along with several pipes believed to be used for smoking meth, were discovered at the location as well.

Both Driskell and Watson were taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled substance in an amount sufficient to warrant the offense being considered a second degree felony.

According to Section 12.33 of the Texas Penal Code, “An individual adjudged guilty of a felony of the second degree shall be punished by imprisonment in the institutional division for any term of not more than 20 years or less than two years. In addition to imprisonment, an individual adjudged guilty of a felony of the second degree may be punished by a fine not to exceed $10,000.”

Bond for Driskell and Watson was set at $20,000 apiece. Driskell posted the required amount and he was released pending trial. Watson is still held at the Houston County Jail.
