Open House at KEB

ELKHART – Keep Elkhart Beautiful is less a title than a mission, according to Rosemary Biel. The new 501c3 program, formerly under the auspice of the City of Elkhart, is now run by a different board and funding sources.
The non-profit organization is seeking members, and the no-stress membership requirement of one meeting per year makes it easy for anyone who’s interested to participate. “Though, you are free to come to all the meetings, of course,” Biel laughed.
“We are excited about the Open House coming up Saturday, Sept. 10,” Biel said. “The program will run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church on Parker Street in Elkhart.”
The church is across the street from the Elkhart Elementary School, Biel explained.
“This is an invitation for the first time, for citizens in and around Elkhart to discuss, suggest or learn about the things we can do to improve the neighborhoods and environment,” Biel continued.
“We need to get more of the community involved. We want to hear their ideas. There are volunteer forms and membership applications to complete during the Open House. Items of merchandise to help raise funding will also be available and light refreshments will be served,” she said.
“The community belongs to its residents, and it only gets better when everyone works together.” For more information or to join up, see the Keep Elkhart Beautiful, Inc. Facebook page.
