Louvella Lasiter Fullerton Gilmore

 

Services for Louvella Lasiter Fullerton Gilmore, age 89, of Slocum will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, at Bailey and Foster Chapel with Bro. Steven Evers officiating. Burial will follow at Strong Cemetery in Slocum. She passed away Tuesday morning at Cartmell Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Mrs. Gilmore was born December 3, 1926 in Anderson County to Lee and Ila B Lasiter. She graduated from Palestine High School, attended Nixon’s Business School, and owned and operated the Slocum Store and Post Office for 21 years. For many years, she was an active member of Lakeside Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, kept the nursery, and served as church secretary.

Mrs. Gilmore was married to Ross Fullerton in 1944 and they had two children. After his death, she married Grady Gilmore.

She was preceded in death by both husbands; her parents; her brother, Bill Lasiter; her sister, Joyce Lusk; and her son, Ronnie Fullerton. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Chaffin and husband Joe of Slocum, daughter-in-law, Claudia Fullerton of Houston, granddaughters, Rhonda Calhoun and husband James of Houston, Janece Fletcher and husband William of Slocum, Jody Evers and husband Steven of Slocum, and Hailey Fullerton of Houston, great-grandchildren, Jake and Josh Calhoun, Jalyn and Jaret Fletcher, Briley, Brance, and Brock Evers, and Nick and Ryan Martinez, brother-in-law, Leroy Lusk of Palestine, and many nieces, nephews.

Pallbearers will be her nephews, James “Pete” Turner, Duke Wayne Turner, Stan Lusk, Bill Lasiter, Jr., Bobby Stout, Curtis Stout, Alan Lusk, and Duane Andrews.

Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Saturday at Bailey and Foster Funeral Home in Palestine. Mrs. Gilmore was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend and she will be greatly missed.
