Latexo ISD Extends Superintendent’s Contract

By Will Johnson Messenger Reporter LATEXO –Latexo Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Stacy Easterly’s contract was extended through 2020 following a positive evaluation during a meeting of the Latexo ISD Board of Trustees held on Thursday, Jan. 26. At the conclusion of a two hour executive session to discuss the superintendent’s evaluation and to consider contract options, the LISD board reconvened in open session to provide their recommendations. Holiday Shopping Spree Results in Felony Charges for Crockett Woman 

By Will Johnson Messenger Reporter CROCKETT – A Crockett female faces additional charges for fraud and forgery after she was arrested at the end of 2016 for illegal drug distribution along with several counts of fraudulent use or possession of identifying information items. Christina Ann Evans, 38, was arrested on Jan. 29 and charged with three counts of fraudulent use or possession of identifying information items as well as one count of forgery of a financial instrument. December Statewide Unemployment Holds Steady at 4.6 Percent

The state has also added jobs in 20 of the last 21 months, according to data released by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). Comptroller to Send Jan. Sales Tax Allocations to Cities and Counties                          

By Will Johnson Messenger Reporter  EAST TEXAS – Area cities and counties will soon receive their January sales tax revenue disbursements from the state. “The cities of Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin and San Antonio continue to see significant increases in sales tax allocations. The cities of Houston and Sugar Land saw noticeable decreases in sales tax allocations,” Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar stated in a press release dated Jan. 11.
