Area Girls Compete in Elkhart Invitational Powerlifting Meet

ELKHART – The Elkhart Invitational Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association Meet was held in Elkhart on Saturday, Jan. 14 and several of the area lifters fared very well in the first meet of 2017. There were 58 lifters from area schools at the event including: Buffalo; Cayuga; Elkhart; Frankston; Grapeland; Malakoff; Mount Enterprise; Palestine: Trinity; and Westwood.

The team from Elkhart powered their way to first place with a total of 57 points with four first place lifters, four second place and three third place lifters. The meet was scored based on a combination of bench press, dead lift and squat. Seven points were awarded for first place, five points for second three points for third, two points for fourth and one point for fifth.

The Trinity Lady Tigers finished in second place with 34 points while the Malakoff Lady Tigers were third with 25. The Westwood Lady Panthers were fourth with 13, the Cayuga lady Wildcats were fifth with 12, the Frankston Maidens were sixth with 11, the Grapeland Sandiettes were seventh with eight points, the Buffalo Lady Bison were eighth seven, the Mount Enterprise Lady Wildcats and the Palestine Lady Cats were 10th with zero.

In the 105 pound class, Elkhart Lady Elk Karson Pardue finished first with a total of 545 pounds lifted. She recorded lifts of 215 pounds in the squat, 110 on the bench and 220 in the dead lift. Elkhart’s Alissa Talley finished second with a total of 515 pounds lifted and Westwood’s Carlie Gibson was third with a total of 510 pounds.

In the 114 pound class, Cayuga Lady Wildcat Alyssa Barnett finished first with a total of 535 pounds lifted. She recorded lifts of 185 pounds in the squat, 115 on the bench and 235 in the dead lift. Grapeland’s Haylee Reed finished second with a total of 515 pounds lifted and Elkhart’s Annalisa Trevino was third with a total of 510 pounds. Trinity’s Nayeli Davalos was fourth with a total of 475 pounds lifted and Westwood’s Autumn Summers was fifth with a total of 475 pounds.

In the 123 pound class, Malakoff Lady Tiger Becca Brown finished first with a total of 550 pounds lifted. She recorded lifts of 200 pounds in the squat, 105 on the bench and 245 in the dead lift. Mount Enterprise’s Jaelen Linville finished second with a total of 530 pounds lifted, Elkhart’s Keeaira Clark was third with 525 pounds lifted and Westwood’s Lexie McClendon was fourth with 405 pounds lifted.

In the 132 pound class, Elkhart Lady Elk Chloe Ives finished first with a total of 600 pounds lifted. She recorded lifts of 255 pounds in the squat, 95 on the bench and 250 in the dead lift. Elkhart’s Shawnee Vaughn finished second with a total of 600 pounds lifted and Elkhart’s Lizbeth Marquez was third with a total of 580 pounds. Buffalo’s Daniela Reyes was fourth with a total of 510 pounds lifted and Trinity’s Noemi Acosta was fifth with a total of 510 pounds.

In the 148 pound class, Westwood Lady Panther Janzel Baroy finished first with a total of 745 pounds lifted. She recorded lifts of 295 pounds in the squat, 135 on the bench and 315 in the dead lift. Malakoff’s Shayla Boles finished second with a total of 665 pounds lifted and Grapeland’s Elizabeth Thorpe was third with a total of 655 pounds. Malakoff’s Nazajia Walker was fourth with a total of 525 pounds lifted and Mount Enterprise’s Riley Strawn was fifth with a total of 510 pounds.

In the 165 pound class, Elkhart Lady Elk Kerstin Humphries finished first with a total of 795 pounds lifted. She recorded lifts of 325 pounds in the squat, 150 on the bench and 320 in the dead lift. Trinity’s Kyndall finished second with a total of 625 pounds lifted and Trinity’s Euline Zaragoza was third with a total of 615 pounds. Frankston’s Calle Cargill fourth with a total of 550 pounds lifted and Malakoff’s Kalie Lewis was fifth with a total of 500 pounds.

In the 181 pound class, Trinity Lady Tiger Kelli Ramey finished first with a total of 695 pounds lifted. She recorded lifts of 305 pounds in the squat, 115 on the bench and 275 in the dead lift. Buffalo’s Evan Johnson finished second with a total of 610 pounds lifted, Frankston’s Catelin Jones was third with 550 pounds lifted and Trinity’s Ninoshka Alvarez was fourth with 425 pounds lifted.

In the 198 pound class, Trinity Lady Tiger Deanna Fisher finished first with a total of 970 pounds lifted. She recorded lifts of 390 pounds in the squat, 205 on the bench and 375 in the dead lift. Elkhart’s Harleigh McEnturff finished second with a total of 885 pounds lifted and Frankston’s Paige Miles was third with a total of 800 pounds. Trinity’s Shakendra Snell was fourth with a total of 675 pounds lifted and Cayuga’s Kim Forrester was fifth with a total of 575 pounds.

In the 220 pound class, Malakoff Lady Tiger Madison Wilbanks finished first with a total of 975 pounds lifted. She recorded lifts of 425 pounds in the squat, 200 on the bench and 350 in the dead lift. Trinity’s Beatriz Costilla finished second with a total of 685 pounds lifted, Frankston’s Destiny Toye was third with 645 pounds lifted and Cayuga’s Bryanna Stotts was fourth with 590 pounds lifted.

In the 259 pound class, Elkhart Lady Elk Tawny Anderson finished first with a total of 660 pounds lifted. She recorded lifts of 275 pounds in the squat, 130 on the bench and 255 in the dead lift. Elkhart’s Natalie Defore finished second with a total of 645 pounds lifted, Malakoff’s Emily Rodriguez was third with 610 pounds lifted and Cayuga’s Reagan Ingram was fourth with 545 pounds lifted.
