Cleo Blakeley

Cleo Blakeley, age 83, of Lovelady, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at her home.  She was born August 25, 1935 in Alba to parents, Cloyed Wright and Ida Jane Pope Wright.  Cleo was known as the “Cotton Candy Lady” from her time she worked for Wal-Mart in Crockett.  She especially enjoyed her community service duties including Houston County Community Center helping with the elderly at the concerts, serving in the Houston County Hospital Ladies’ Auxiliary, volunteering at the Lovelady Lovefest and representing Houston County at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in horseshoe throwing.  Cleo was always ready to wear funny hats or costumes to celebrate most any holiday, and was an active member of the Lovelady Antioch Church, enjoying her Sunday school class and women’s group dinners.  Traveling was one of her passions especially the “sister trips”, she would tell of her two trips to Niagra Falls that she had been up to it, under it and over it.  One of her proudest accomplishments was receiving her G.E.D. forty years after dropping out of school to marry the love of her life, her graduation was attended by family and friends and included her great-grandson.

Cleo was survived by her daughter, Linda McConnell of Yantis; grandchildren, Samantha and Glenn Miller of Bella Vista, AR, Pamela and Jamie House of Emory, TX, Timothy McConnell of Salem, OR, Kimberly and Cory Dusek of Aurora, CO; great-grandchildren, Jordan Miller of Tucson, AZ, Emily and Jacob House of Emory, TX, Clover and Jose Lopez of Aurora, CO, Morgan Dusek of Auroro, CO, Britley Miller of Bella Vista, AR, Krimzen Dusek of Tulsa, OK, Gavin Coy McConnell of Texarkana, TX, Troy McConnell of Phoenix, AZ; great-great-grandchildren, Isabelle Richmond and Bryson Miller of Bella Vista, AR; sister, Wanda Huddleston and husband, Jackie of Greenville, TX; sisters-in-law, Marie Driskell of Lovelady, Ruby Sexton of Lovelady, TX, Carolyn Level and husband, John of Titusville, FL; a host of nephews, nieces and friends.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Coy W. Blakeley; parents, Cloyed and Ida Wright.

Funeral services for Cleo Blakeley were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2019 in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jordan Johnson officiating.  Family received friends for visitation Friday evening from 6 p.m to 8 p.m.  Interment followed in the Lovelady Antioch Cemetery.  Online condolences may be made at www.callawayallee.com.
