Ho. Co. Fair Crowns Grand Champions and Reserve Champions

HOUSTON COUNTY – The Houston County Fair and Youth Livestock Show kicked off this past week and while the results from Friday’s Sale of Champions were unavailable as of press time, the Grand Champion, Reserve Champion and Showmanship awards for the various classes have been presented to the exhibitors.

The In-County Heifer category saw Michael Curry from the Kennard 4-H Club win the Grand Champion award, while Preston Mooneyham Craven with the Kennard FFA won Reserve Champion.

In the Market Steer Category, Coy Smith from the Kennard 4-H, took home the Grand Champion’s award while Sebastian Noble from the Latexo FFA club received the Reserve Champion award. Senior Showmanship went to Camryn Craven from the Latexo 4-H and Colton Rains from the Kennard FFA received the Junior Showmanship award.

In the Replacement Heifer category, Michael Curry with the Kennard FFA scored big and walked away with the Grand Champion’s banner. Robert Lewis III, with the Crockett FFA, was named as Reserve Champion.

In the Non-Sale Foal Futurity Show, Gracie Mason with the Pineywoods 4-H Horse Club won the Grand Champion Award and Jr. Showmanship Award. Colton Rains from the Kennard FFA won Reserve Champion while Haven Prager was presented with the Senior Showmanship Award.

In the Fryer Rabbits Division, Crockett FFA’s Trey White received the top award as Grand Champion and was also presented with the Senior Showmanship award. Aidan Larkin, with the Lovelady FFA, was named as Reserve Champion. Crystal Johnson with the Lovelady 4-H Club won the Junior Showmanship award.

In the Breeding Rabbits category, Jason Johnson, with the Lovelady 4-H Club, received the Grand Champion award in the buck class while Dalli Jones with Latexo 4-H was awarded Reserve Champion.

In the doe class, Brayden Barron with the Latexo FFA won Grand Champion honors while Landon Kent with the Homestead 4-H received Reserve Champion honors.

The Grand Champion in the Broiler category went to Bryan Perez-Maldonado, from the Grapeland FFA. The Reserve Champion was Jason DeCluette, with the Lovelady FFA.

In the Market Lamb category, Riley Beaver with the Homestead 4-H was named as Grand Champion and also won the Senior Showmanship award. Kenzie Brown, from the Latexo FFA was named as the Reserve Champion. The Junior Showmanship award went to Landry Beaver, also with the Homestead 4-H club.

Kaylin Parrish from the Kennard FFA was named as Grand Champion in the Market Goat category. The Reserve Champion was Kenzie Brown from the Latexo FFA. The Senior Showmanship award went to Trinity Meadows with the Homestead 4-H Club and the Junior Showmanship went to Landry Beaver, also with the Homestead 4-H club

In the Market Hog Category, Brennyn Stafford with the Grapeland FFA received the award as Grand Champion. The award for Reserve Champion went to Kyria Noble from the Latexo FFA chapter. The Sr. Showmanship award went to Caysen Wilson while Kyler Snell with the Grapeland FFA took home Jr. Showmanship honors.

In the Breeding Swine Category, Harlie Hoch with Latexo FFA received the Grand Champion’s award while the Reserve Champion honor went to Kylie Smith with the Lovelady 4-H Club.

Results for the Home and Garden and the Ag. Mech. shows were unavailable as of press time.
