GROVETON – The Grapeland Sandiettes took their 7-0 District 20-2A mark on the road Friday as they traveled to Groveton for a matchup against the Lady Indians.

While the Lady Indians are consistently good in volleyball, quite frankly, they aren’t in basketball and it certainly showed. The Sandiettes held Groveton to two points in the first quarter and zero points in the fourth quarter. In between, it didn’t get much better as Grapeland throttled Groveton by a final score of 85-12.

The game was over after the opening tip as the Sandiettes first quarter point production exceeded the Lady Indians output for the entire game.

Lena Taylor dropped in the only two points for Groveton while Grapeland’s Hannah Chipman poured in 13. Ragan Bowie added five, Kenya Woods had four and KeKe Harris nailed a three to make the score 25-2 after the first eight minutes of play.

The Lady Indians tripled their first quarter scoring in the second with six points as Taylor, Chasity Blair and Ashley Rumley all had two.

The Sandiettes continued to push the ball up the court as they opened up a 53-8 lead by the end of the first half. Teira Jones came alive in the second period as she dropped in 11. Chipman added another eight to her total, R. Bowie went for five more, Harris had two and Tatiyanna Bowie chipped in a basket to close out the first half scoring.

After the break, the Sandiettes eased up on the defensive pressure. The Lady Indians, however, were only able to muster four points on baskets by Rumley and Taylor.

Jones continued to dominate in the third quarter as she had eight. R. Bowie knocked down a pair from behind the arc while both Harris and Woods had two apiece.

With most of the Sandiette starters on the bench, the Lady Indians still couldn’t score as Grapeland held Groveton scoreless in the fourth quarter.

The Sandiettes fourth quarter scoring came from Woods with six, Aeriannia Granderson with five and Tori Woodford with three as Grapeland coasted to an 85-12 win.

On the game, the Lady Indians scoring came from Lena Taylor with six, Ashley Rumley with four and Chasity Blair with two.
