CROCKETT – In their first game of the New Year, the Crockett Bulldogs welcomed the Frankston Indians to town for a District 20-3A tilt. Crockett came into the game with a 1-1 district record and a #20 TABC ranking, while the Indians were still seeking their first win in district competition.

Before the game, and based on the standings, if you thought Crockett would waltz past Frankston, you would be right. The Bulldogs opened up a 10-point lead by the end of the first quarter and never looked back on their way to a 64-33 win.

The Indians were held to seven first quarter points thanks to the quick hands of the Crockett defense and the poor shooting of the Indians offense. Jason Stanaland knocked down a three-pointer while Brink Bizzell, along with Jaiden Lillard, both had two.

The Bulldogs were paced by AJ Owens with a pair of threes to along with a two. Ty White dropped in four, Teddy Jones hit from behind the arc and Allen Horace powered in two as Crockett opened up a 17-7 lead after the first eight minutes of play.

Frankston continued to struggle in the second quarter, adding only five points to their score. Bizzell netted four while Logan Casey made one of two from the line to close out the Indians’ first half point production.

Crockett continued to beat Frankston up and down the court which led to the Bulldogs taking a 34-12 lead into the locker room at halftime. White went for seven in the second quarter while both Owens and Jordan Bedford connected from downtown. Horace and Khardarius Easterling had two apiece to round out the first half scoring.

After the break, the Indians tried to mount a comeback, but it was to no avail. Boogie Krajca was the only Frankston player to score in the third quarter as he posted eight.

The Bulldogs, meanwhile, began to pound the ball inside to Horace who put up eight points in the third. When the pathway to the basket was blocked, Crockett would kick the ball outside to AJ Owens who dropped in seven. White and Demetrius Williams both had two as the Bulldogs pushed their lead to 53-20 by the end of the third period of play.
