Charles Richard Crawford

Funeral services for Charles Richard Crawford, age 79, of Elkhart were scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday, November 25, 2018, at First Baptist Church of Elkhart. Burial followed in Guiceland Cemetery under the direction of Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Mr. Crawford went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 22, 2018.

He was born September 27, 1939, in Grapeland, Texas to Charlie C. Crawford and Nora Beatrice Ginsel Crawford. Charles was well known for his mechanic skills and love for tractors and farm equipment. He took great joy in helping others fix their tractors. Even after he was unable to work hands-on, he continued to teach others and share his knowledge.

Charles proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1963-65. He worked for Ford Tractor Company in Palestine, then spent many years working for Jones Tractor Sales in Elkhart. After 20+ years of working at the Elkhart Co-Op, he retired only because of health issues. His strong work ethic never ended.

Charles was a devoted husband, father, Paw Paw, brother, and friend. He loved and cared for his family and his animals. He honored God with his life by loving and serving others. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Elkhart.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Margie Crawford; daughter, Charla O’Neal and husband Philip; sons, Keith Crawford, Chris Crawford, and David Crawford; step-daughters, Donna Cubstead and Sheri Larson; step-sons, Tommy Cubstead and Jason Ribble; brother, Donald Crawford; sisters, Charlsey Bragg, Abbie Hamby and Tom, Linda Hill and David, Betty Beaird; grandchildren, Landon O’Neal, Jacob O’Neal, Michelle Eisel, Alisha Holley, Brandon Ferrari, Jimmie Larson, D.J. Larson, Cody Ribble, and Kayleigh Ribble; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, Charlie and Beatrice Crawford; sister, Joyce Wilson; and brother, George Crawford.

Pallbearers are Tommy Cubstead, Charlie Lewis, Bill Wilson, Matt Hamby, Melvin Bambeck, Edward Hamby, Larry Hamby, and Walter Bambeck. Honorary pallbearers are Don Ray, Pon Fincher, and Kelvin Woodard.

Visitation was Saturday, November 24, 2018, at Herrington / Land of Memory Funeral Chapel from 6 to 8 pm.
