Herman Carr

Herman Carr was born September 23, 1938 to the late Tommie Lee Carr, Sr., and the late Ola Mae Campbell Carr. Herman was married to the late Frances Hines, Dallas, Texas.

Herman graduated from W. R. Banks High School, Grapeland, TX. After an extended illness, he passed away peacefully, Sunday, August 5, 2018 at the Charleston Methodist Hospital, Dallas, Texas.

He was a member of Live Oak Missionary Baptist Church, Galveston, Texas, where he served as an usher, New Birth Missionary Baptist, Dallas, TX and Calvary Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church, Dallas, Texas, Rev. J. H. Moore, Jr., pastor.

He is survived by his wife, Maurine Carr of 47 years, 6 children: Alton Stephens, Dallas, TX, Babette Carr Lemons, Galveston, TX, Bruton Stephens (Brigitte), Andree Stephens Steele (Marcus) , Minola Carr & Iola Carr (Rodney Griffith). One brother – Clyde Carr, two sisters – Bertha Carr Young (Rev. Eric J.), Mrs. Verdie Tryon, all of Dallas, TX. One sister-in-law – Edwina Carr, Houston, TX.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Tommie Lee Carr, Sr., & Lawrence Carr, Sr. Other survivors include 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family. Special classmate & friend Bennie Lewis Johnson, Dallas, TX.
