MADISONVILLE – After finishing the 2017 season with a record of 11-2 and a trip to the regional semifinals, the Madisonville Mustangs are hoping to build on that success and take a few more steps to the title game.

It will be a tall order but Head Coach Rusty Nail believes he has the talent to do just that. While the Mustangs lost a ton of players to graduation, Madisonville returns 22 lettermen who saw significant playing time during last year’s playoff run.

This year’s road to the postseason will not be an easy one in District 8-4A DII. The Fairfield Eagles, the Lorena Leopards and Mexia Black Cats were all area finalists while the Salado Eagles were regional finalists. The Robinson Rockets and Waco Connally Cadets round out the district.

Players to watch on the Mustangs include: Aaron Nellums; Uriel Willis; Tyrese Brown; Marcus Dorman: Asa Surface Michael D’Boisblanc; Chop Juarez; and Mauricio Aceves.
