Matthew 3 “The Baptism of Jesus”

Jesus of Nazareth is ready to start His ministry. He is thirty years old and the first thing He wishes to do is to be baptized by John, the baptizer. This is to identify Himself with John’s message that He, Jesus, is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. At first John hesitates saying he needs to be baptized by Jesus. However, when Jesus says to John that this was to fulfill all righteous, John Baptized Jesus.  Immediately after Jesus was baptized, the Holy Spirit descends upon Jesus and His Heavenly Father says, “This is My Beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.”  When a person who has already accepted Jesus as their Savior by asking Him to come into their heart, they should be baptized to affirm to the public and other believers that they are now a Christian! Amen.
