Gary Martin Reed

Funeral services for Gary Martin Reed, 69 of Slocum, was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home Chapel Palestine, with Rev. Glenn Bowman and Rev. Steven Evers officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey & Foster Funeral Home Palestine.

Mr. Reed passed away Friday, July 13, 2018, in Tyler. He was born May 17, 1949, in Percilla, TX, to Jim Reed and Melba Hogan Reed. He was employed by Kirby Inland Marine as a Tow Boat Captain for 38 years, and served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. Mr. Reed enjoyed hunting and fishing, and tending cows. He was a member of Denson Springs Baptist Church.

Mr. Reed was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Betty Hemphill and Donna Evers, and brother Malon Reed.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Judy Hill Reed, son Brad Langston and wife Sabrina, sister Ginny Ferguson and husband Curtis, brother Larry Reed and wife Joyce, grandchildren Caden Langston, Hannah Wright, and Haley Wright, all of Slocum.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Axum, James Pitts, Collin Mock, Jerod Mock, Adam Crain, and B.J. Crain. Honorary pallbearer will be Brad Hicks.

Condolence calls were received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2018, at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home Palestine.
