Floyd L. Reid

Floyd L. Reid, age 85, of Liberty Hill, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2018 in the Houston County Nursing Home.  Floyd was born January 24, 1933 in Cherokee County to parents, James Burton Reid and Frances Jane Masters Reid.  He worked and retired from TDCJ after 25 years of service.  After his retirement, Floyd was an avid hunter and fisherman, always enjoyed a game of 42 or dominoes and loved visiting with friends and family.  He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Grapeland.

Floyd is survived by wife of 65 years and 9 months, Shirley L. Reid of Liberty Hill; sons, Billy Reid and wife, Sandi of Lovelady, Frank Reid of Liberty Hill, Randy Reid and wife, Delisa of Liberty Hill; daughters-in-law, Colleen Reid of Lovelady, Dianne Reid of Holly; sister-in-law, Beth Reid of Houston; brothers-in-law, Jessie Hollis and wife, Cathey of Terre Haute, IN, Doug Hollis and wife, Beverly of Latexo, Wayne Hollis and wife, Janice of Percilla; special niece, Jody King; eight grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and hunting buddies.   He was preceded in death by sons, James “Burton” Reid, Charles Lynn “Bugger” Reid; parents, James Burton Reid and Frances Jane Reid; sisters, Addie Mae Bowman and husband, G. W., Lorene Ward and husband, Emory; brothers, Shots Reid and wife, Mary, Robert Reid, Harmon Reid and wife, Ola Mae, Joe Reid, Mack Reid and wife, Ruby, Ernest Reid and wife, Lucille, Dave Reid and wife, Nic, Jim Williard “Red” Reid, Raymond Reid; father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Lillian Hollis; sisters-in-law, Eloise Richardson and husband, Elmer, Nelda Burton; brother-in-law, Jamie Hollis.

Funeral services for Floyd L. Reid were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018 in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Bro. Josh Mills officiating.  Interment followed in the Weches Cemetery.

Family will receive friends for visitation Friday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
