CROCKETT – With the resignation of Josh Crabtree in Position One, the CISD Board of Trustees had a vacant board seat. Crabtree had decided to resign his position on the board to attend to personal matters and not because he had moved, as previously reported.

A Tuesday, May 29 board meeting was called to order at 6 p.m. by CISD Board President Lela Wheeler who informed those in attendance the board would go into executive session for the purpose of selecting someone to fill the vacant position and to deliberate personnel matters.

Approximately an hour later, the board emerged from behind closed doors. Once the meeting had been reconvened, Board Secretary Karen Johnson made a motion to appoint Ansel Bradshaw to the vacant position on the CISD Board of Trustees.

The motion was seconded and unanimously approved. Following the vote, Executive Secretary/HR Director Rhonda Kendrick administered the oath of office to Bradshaw and he took his seat with the other trustees.

In other matters brought before the board of trustees, the hiring of Ashley Crabtree and Mart Graham was approved by the board. Crabtree will teach science at the high school while Graham will teach P.E. at the elementary school.

Once the meeting concluded, Bradshaw commented on his appointment.

“I think it is an honor and a privilege to serve the Crockett Independent School District as a trustee. I look forward to the next school year and I look forward to being a part of the fantastic team that makes up the board,” he said.

“I also look forward to working with (CISD Superintendent) Terry Myers, along with the rest of the faculty and staff of Crockett ISD,” he said.

Bradshaw further commented while he was honored to have been selected by the board members, he indicated he had a lot to learn about the school district.

“It’s the same challenge as when I was elected to the (Crockett) city council and when I was appointed to the economic development board. There are things you have to learn – procedurally – but I certainly look forward to that and to becoming a productive school board member for the taxpayers of Crockett ISD and for the students of the district, as well,” he said.
