Stephen Allen “Peter” McRae

Stephen Allen “Peter” McRae quietly passed away at his home in Grapeland, on April 4, 2018. He was born in New Albany, Indiana, May 12, 1956 to Kenneth and Lorena L. McRae.

Stephen was a true ‘jack-of-all-trades”, from professional harmonica player to constitutional scholar and military Special Forces soldier to naturopathic specialist. He was a proud American Patriot, electrician, gardener, carpenter, plumber, singer and most of all Christian.

Stephen in his later years never left a person wanting. Whether it was a meal that needed to be prepared, a fence that needed to be repaired or Christmas lights that needed to be strung, Stephen was there. Charles Sutton, Rebekah Glenn and Leah Murray along with scores of brothers and sisters in Christ can attest that Stephen left nothing to chance. His Faith in his Savior was never ending.

The countless people whose lives he touched through his testimony, his medicinal brews, his political guidance and humor will never fully be known, but fond memories will last until he is seen again.

Stephen was preceded in death by his Mother Lorena Lee McRae and beloved ‘Gramma’ Marion DePue. Gramma Depue was instrumental in forming his early love of the Constitution, and indomitable spirit.

Survivors include his daughter Gwendolyn Murray, brother Charles E. DePue, sisters Susan Fountain and Marylyn Kimball, nieces and nephews, special friends Leah Murray, Charles Sutton, Rebekah Glenn, and many family members through love.

His Celebration of Appreciation will be held at the Firstborn Christian Center in Grapeland, Texas on April 27th at 3:00 p.m. with Rebekah Glenn officiating. For more information, call 936-222-5860.
