Pinkney E. “Pink” Hartline

Pinkney E. “Pink” Hartline, age 84, of Trinity passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at his residence. Pink was born May 27, 1933 in McKinney, Texas to parents, Horris Hickerson Hartline and Cora Lou Strickland Hartline. He was raised in McKinney and joined the United States Navy in 1951, proudly serving his country for four years. In 1953, Pink married the love of his life, Melba Lee James in Port Chicago, California and after his discharge, they moved back to McKinney, working at the Ford Plant in Dallas. Pink then began his long career in the golfing business as pro with Eastern Hills Country Club in Garland, Greenville/Wright Park Country Club in Greenville, Sand Oaks Country Club in Greenville, Oak Creek Country Club in Greenville, Sand Hills Country Club in Commerce, Cypress Creek Country Club in Mt. Vernon and also worked as a guard with TemCo at Major Field. He then opened Hartline Golf Cars in four locations, Campbell, Quinlin, Gun Barrel City and Crockett. Pink retired in 2010 and moved to Trinity Plantation.

Over the years, he enjoyed gardening, his cows, quail and dove hunting, fishing and most certainly, golf. Pink was survived by his wife of 64 years, Melba Lee James Hartline of Trinity; children, Richard “Ricky” Glenn Hartline and Diane Holland of Crockett, Dennis “Bo” Franklin Hartline and wife, Carla of Greenville, Pinkney “Pinkey” Newton Hartline of Lake Jackson, Kenny Lee Hartline of Greenville, Sandra “Sandy” Lynn Hartline Lawrence and husband, Allen of Crockett; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Richard “Bub” Newton Hartline and wife, Ada Ruth of Greenville.

He was preceded in death by parents, Horris Hickerson Hartline, Sr. and Cora Lou Strickland Hartline; brother, Horris “June” Hickerson Hartline, Jr..

Family received friends for visitation Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Callaway-Allee Funeral Home. Funeral services for P. E. “Pink” Hartline were held Friday, January 12, 2018 at 1 p.m. in the Commerce Funeral Home Chapel in Commerce, TX with Bro. Michael Stone officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brigham Cemetery, 1441 CR 4208, Campbell, Texas  75422.
